The “Scavi”

The “Scavi” are the excavations of the underground necropolis under St. Peter’s Basilica. You must request a reservation in advance to see the Scavi. You may do this by sending a fax to the Excavation Office at (39) 06698-73017, an e-mail to scavi@fsp.va, or by phone at (39) 066988-5318. Tickets are 10 euros per person and include a guided tour. As this is a very popular site and the Vatican only allows a limited number of people; please make your reservations as far in advance as possible to ensure that you get a tour.
