August 2015 -- This week the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See begins its move to a new Chancery building that will be a significant upgrade in the quality, size, and safety of our facility. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and Ambassador Hackett: “Pope Francis’ Call for Climate Action”

July 13, 2015 -- Last month, Pope Francis released his second encyclical as pontiff, urging all people to protect our natural resources and to take action on climate change. He makes clear our moral obligation to prevent climate impacts that threaten God’s creation, especially for those most vulnerable.

June 25, 2015 -- Good to see everybody. Well, thank you very much for being here as we release our Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2014. It’s a great team effort that literally works all year long collecting extraordinary information, synthesizing it, and putting together what I consider to be one of the most important reports that the department puts out.

June 18, 2015 -- The Pope’s powerful encyclical calls for a common response to the critical threat climate change poses to our common home. His plea for all religions to work together reflects the urgency of the challenge. The faith community – in the United States and abroad – has a long history of environmental stewardship and aiding the poor.

June 18, 2015 -- I welcome His Holiness Pope Francis's encyclical, and deeply admire the Pope's decision to make the case - clearly, powerfully, and with the full moral authority of his position - for action on global climate change. As Pope Francis so eloquently stated this morning, we have a profound responsibility to protect our children, and our children's children, from the damaging impacts of climate change.
