Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs Dina Powell visits with Ambassador Rooney, October 26, 2006

Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs and Deputy Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy Dina Powell visited with Ambassador Rooney on October 26 to discuss the State Department’s Public Diplomacy programs. 

Assistant Secretary Powell highlighted the importance of the International Visitors program, citing numerous past participants who went on to hold lofty positions in their governments. 

Ambassador Rooney noted Embassy Vatican’s participation in the program and highlighted the embassy’s upcoming participants, including an official in the Vatican’s Foreign Ministry equivalent (Secretariat of State), and a member of the Catholic non-governmental organization (NGO) the Community of Sant’Egidio.
