Congressional Economic Leadership Institute Visits the Vatican, November 28, 2006
A group of Congressmen and business leaders organized by the Congressional Economic Leadership Institute visited the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and the Pontifical Council Cor Unum on November 28. On the agenda were food security, sustainable development, and various other humanitarian issues. The Congressmen participating in the meetings with Cardinal Martino and Archbishop Cordes incuded Jim Kolbe of Arizona (R), Devin Nunes of California (R), Jim Costa of California (D), Dennis Cardoza of California (D), and Ron Kind of Wisconsin (D).
The meetings provided a rich opportunity for discussion about the work being done throughout the world by secular and religious institutions to alleviate hunger and poverty and to promote social justice.
